Fit to Participate

It is the responsibility of the participant to be fit enough to complete the Runner Bean 5k programme and race. You should also see your own doctor if you have had any signs or symptoms of heart disease, such are chest pain or chest tightness on exertion, shortness of breath, or palpitations that is out of context of the physical exertion. You should discuss any relevant family history such as heart disease or sudden collapse. Once you have obtained consent from your doctor to start your training programme, you are required to declare any serious medical issues/conditions that might require special attention to the programme and race organisers. In addition, any relevant medical condition or current medication needs to be declared in advance of commencing the programme. You will be asked to sign the waiver below, plus provide details of any medical issues that might preclude you from participating in the programme.

The Runner Bean 5k training programme course is entirely on tarmac and concrete paths. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. While most of the course is away from traffic (along the Metals and Pier), there are some pedestrian crossings and care must be taken on Dun Laoghaire pier to stay away from the edge. The Shanganagh Park Run is on similar terrain but entirely away from traffic.
